Florida Engineering and Design, Inc. was retained by IT Corporation to design a wastewater collection system to replace septic tanks located in Crandon Park, Key Biscayne in Miami, Florida. The sewer system engineering and design included gravity pipeline layout and sizing and lift stations design. FEDINC provided an in-house design and graphics staff that produced drawings for the client to use in soliciting the project construction bids.
The project required sanitary system design and documents for construction including gravity sewer, force main, manholes, pump stations, sewer laterals and plumbing, pavement restoration specifications, septic tanks and associated drain fields abandonment, electrical connections, site clearing, testing, sod restoration and mitigation design for impacts to environmentally sensitive areas. This park includes a golf course, restroom facilities, international tennis court complex, snack bar, etc. The requirements of the sanitary sewer lift stations were such that excess capacity was included in the system design. This resulted in the need for multiple alternatives to be presented with “present-worth” calculations and reviewed by the City of Miami prior to the finalization of plans. The Miami/Dade Parks and Recreation Department own this project site.
